The Right Reverend Dr Brian Farran
-  now the Bishop of Newcastle

Bishop Farran is the Bishop of the Northern Region of the Diocese of Perth. His geographic area of responsibility ranges from Mundaring to Yanchep to City Beach. There are 35 parishes and six Anglican schools in the Region.

Bishop Brian Farran is a Graduate both of the Australian National University and Deakin University. He has served the Anglican Church of Australia in the Diocese of the Riverina, Canberra & Goulburn, Rockhampton and in Perth.

Prior to becoming the Bishop of the Goldfields and Country Region of the Diocese of Perth, he was the Dean of the Cathedral in Rockhampton and then the Regional Director for the Australian Board of Missions in Victoria.

Bishop Farran became the Bishop of the Northern Region of the Diocese of Perth in March 1998. He is married to Robin and they have three adult children.

Bishop Farran is a member of the Standing Committee of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Australia, the Chairman of Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, and a Fellow of the Guildford Grammar School Council.

In 2004 Bishop Farran was awarded the degree of Doctor of Ministry Studies from Melbourne College of Divinity for his thesis: Becoming Ministering Communities the narrative of the development of a new model of church for the rural and remote regions of the diocese of Perth, Western Australia.
